1. What's the cost of the tickets?

Admission to Melissa Road Tribute Fest is FREE to everyone! Items, such as food and drinks, are available for purchase. See the wide variety of Food and Beverage vendors at https://www.cityofmelissa.com/471/Food-Beverages.

2. When and where will the Melissa Road Tribute Fest take place?

The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2023, starting at 3 p.m. with continuous entertainment until 8:30 p.m. As the name suggests, the festival will take place on Melissa Road where it intersects Sherman St.

3. When will Melissa Road be closed to vehicular traffic?

Portions of Melissa Road will start closing at 9 a.m., to accommodate the event’s setup. The block of Melissa Road between Central and Sherman Streets will be fully blocked off at 2 p.m. and reopened by 11 p.m.

4. What about parking?

Free parking is available in area lots and other nearby locations. Please see the parking map at https://www.cityofmelissa.com/473/Parking-Information for specific locations. Parking might be a challenge. Attendees who park on public streets must ensure that access to driveways, roads, or alleys is not blocked.

5. Is the City offering shuttle service?

Attendees who park at Cardinal Stadium (3100 Cardinal Drive) and Zadow Park (3001 McKinney St.) are welcome to take advantage of complimentary round-trip shuttle service from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. See Shuttle Map at https://www.cityofmelissa.com/478/Shuttle-Routes for pickup and drop off points. The Cardinal Stadium shuttle has been designated as ADA accessible.

6. Where can I park my golf cart?

Parking spots specifically for golf carts will be located at the DART Right of Way adjacent to the rail line between Cooper St. and Fannin Road. See the parking map.

7. Will there be food and drink available?

A wide variety of foods and beverages will be available for purchase. Food truck and mobile vendors, coordinated through a partnership with food truck park The Nest, will offer prepared food, drinks, merch and more. Vendors will accept credit and debit cards. Attendees are prohibited from bringing food and beverages onto the festival grounds, including beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages. Alcohol sales will end at 8 p.m.

8. Will seating be provided?

Because the festival area is an actual roadway, there are no provided seating areas. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, or folding chairs for their comfort. Tents, canopies, or any other structure are not allowed.

9. Will there be a Kid Zone?

Yes! The Tribute Fest is designed with families in mind. The Kid Zone will include inflatables in partnership with Melissa’s Clown Around Party Rental.

10. Is there a dress code?

Good taste in attire is expected for this family event. Shirts, shoes, and smiles are required.

11. Is the Festival a rain or shine event?

Rain and lightning do not go well with musical instruments, equipment, and electric appliances. September weather can be unpredictable, but officials will provide ample notice of cancellation, if necessary. Unfortunately, there is no rain date.

12. Are pets allowed?

Only certified service animals will be allowed on the festival grounds. No pets.

13. What about a First Aid station?

City of Melissa Fire Department personnel will be on duty onsite at all times. A staffed First Aid station will be located at Sherman St. and Melissa Road. Go to https://www.cityofmelissa.com/472/Event-Map to see a Festival map.

14. Will ATMs be available?

No.

15. Will restrooms be provided?

A number of portable restrooms will be located on the grounds. See the Festival at https://www.cityofmelissa.com/472/Event-Map for locations.

16. What other important information should I know?

Here’s the fine print. In the interest of everyone’s safety, the following items are prohibited: coolers, large bags, backpacks, food, drinks, contraband, weapons, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, laser pointers, aerial drones, or frisbees. Also prohibited are glass bottles and containers.

Unauthorized sales, solicitations, and distributions are likewise prohibited.

Persons entering the site may be subject to search for any prohibited items. Festival officials reserve the right to refuse admission or remove any person violating the facility, local, state, or federal laws or whose conduct is deemed illegal, disorderly, or offensive by festival management.

Persons entering the Melissa Road Tribute Fest grant the City of Melissa permission to use the individual's name and likeness for any event-related publicity or advertising purposes.
